This article talks about Amazon Web Services and how it may benefit from Kinesis, a new service that is going to be released soon. It’s developed in order to manage data in real-time, and it replicates the data in three different places, in order to be more secure and stable, which are some concepts we discussed in class.

From the article, it says that “the basic concept of Kinesis is a stream of data that is fed into and then outputted from the service. Each stream is made up of what Amazon calls shards. They can capture up to 1MB of data and 1,000 transactions per second. Applications linked to the service on the other side can read data from each shard at up to 2MB per second.” Reading up to 1,000 transactions per second could be very helpful for a lot of different people.

Costs are $0.028 for one million transactions, and each shard is $0.015, and it’s currently only available in the Eastern United States.
